SkillPoint Software is a dynamic company offering software
solutions, web development and training on Microsoft products.
Target Market
We specialise in offering solutions for the small to medium enterprises –
up to 500 users. We operate throughout South Africa and will travel to
consult and implement solutions.
Our solutions are customised to each client, and consist of the following:
Business Analysis
The client’s needs are individually assessed, and a unique solution is
devised according to these needs. If existing products can satisfy the
requirement, this option will be included in the number of options
listed in the analysis.
GAP Analysis
The business analysis includes an assessment of the current infrastructure,
and legacy software in place.
Overall system design
The full system architecture is determined upfront as part of the analysis.
Any new hardware requirements or interfacing into existing systems will
be incorporated into the solution presented to the client once the
business analysis and gap analysis have been completed.
Project Management
Our service includes management of the development process, right through to
implementation, support and maintenance of the systems. We also cover
risk management and conduct impact assessments. We will either create
the solution ourselves, or work with existing internal developers –
where mentoring is required.
Solution Development
Our team has extensive experience in web design including rich internet applications, at a business to business /
e-commerce level. Remote applications are easier to roll out and
maintain and can be managed centrally. We have a robust security
protocol in place in all projects, which is strictly adhered to.
Product Deployment
Our team will roll out the implementation on your behalf, in tandem with
running training for the users.
User Training
Customised user manuals are devised per client, to address the solutions
to be implemented. This training is split into various levels: system
administrators, power-users and end-users as required. Training can be
done on site or at a corporate venue, we have used Microsoft’s Offices
previously – which are set up with desktops available for the
users to follow the examples which form part of the training.
Support and Maintenance
Support and maintenance contracts are available for a monthly fee, after the
initial bedding down of implemented software has been completed.
Reporting
Microsoft Reporting Services is a pre-packaged Microsoft Product (which
forms part of Microsoft SQL Server suite) that allows rapid development
of reports, including graphical presentation. This can be embedded in a
web front end, with menus; or navigated to directly. The reports
scheduler allows the user to set daily reports to run out of business
hours, and mails the result to the designated recipients.
Databases
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 offers BI tools that allow for extensive data
analysis, in addition to the standard MSSQL features.
Training
We also offer training on Microsoft products, in terms of extending the users
knowledge of the purchased products in order to maximise productivity.
Companies who have bought Server 2008 for example can opt to utilise the
free downloads that form part of this license viz. SharePoint Server
Portal – which creates an intranet that the users can manage, and
InfoPath – which allows the users to create their own forms
templates easily using wizards. Great emphasis is placed on skills
transference, which allows the users to fully leverage the systems put
in place.
Documentation
All projects are fully documented in order to ensure ISO9001 compliance. The
documentation also makes the systems easily maintainable internal to the
company, should there be an internal IT component, or if this work is
outsourced to another company.
Funding
Projects are split up into discreet phases, with part payments due at
set intervals which will be agreed upon with the client in the initial
analysis, thus helping to smooth cash flow.
